Archives Column: Coit Upper

Construction on the Coit Upper was finished in 1904, making it one of the largest and most impactful additions to the school in SPS history. Originally, this building served as a dormitory for all Sixth Formers, resolving an issue where the Sixth Form was spread between two dorms with a heavy rivalry between each. To this day, although the building has been retrofitted with modern plumbing and electricity, much of the original style remains, with the description provided of the Upper Dining Room resembling almost perfectly what exists today.
