Over the course of her time at St. Paul’s School, Fleur Caryl-Klika ‘25 has explored and grown in a variety of ways, and one of them has been in her style. Every day Caryl-Klika strives to build outfits that are, “chic, sophisticated, innovative, and tasteful.”

But striving for her ideal look and vibe is not always easy, and Caryl-Klika believes that building and creating your style often takes fear. She encourages everyone to wear things that you would normally never go out in. She says reflecting on prior experiences, “You’ll find that people may and will stare but it won’t be the end of the world. You’ll live.” The only way you can figure out what you like and don’t like is to try it all.

One of the best ways Caryl-Klika thinks you can elevate an outfit is with hair and makeup. Even though they are not considered traditional accessories, she believes they can completely change an outfit. She realizes that while others may not notice these small differences, “What matters is the self-awareness that something is different and special which helps build more confidence.”

Picking out outfits is an extensive process for Caryl-Klika. And while she tries to plan things out ahead of time, things always look so different compared to how they are seen in her head. She says, “it really takes me trying on, swapping out, switching and tweaking to get exactly what I want to wear.” For others who have difficulty figuring out outfits, Caryl-Klika advises that you think about recent outfits that you like and truly ask yourself why you felt confident in that clothing. That usually allows Caryl-Klika to narrow down her options.

As someone who may want to pursue a career in fashion, Caryl-Klika draws inspiration from a variety of different places. Whether it be models like Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid, artists like Sabrina Carpenter and Elton John, or just people-watching at school, she makes sure to observe and look out for interesting combinations of clothing.

Caryl-Klika is bold, and likes to make a Photo courtesy of Fleur Caryl-Klika '25 statement, spicing up her looks even in the most “mid” conditions of Concord, NH. She embodies the idea that “confidence is the most important ingredient in style.” And she says, “I will never be one to choose function over fashion.”
